BARRED OWL COTTAGE

Jim and Chris Hall have created a one-of-a-kind hideaway on Whidbey Island. Barred Owl Cottage is a beautiful, hand-crafted cabin, outfitted with all the necessities for an uber-comfortable stay—cozy, queen-sized bed surrounded by windows, easy chair, table and chairs, refrigerator, plates, utensils, coffee, tea, water, private bath, wrap-around porch, even a hot tub bubbling beneath the cedars. The nearby village of Langley has great options for grocery, coffee, dining, and shopping and trails and beaches were a quick drive away. We loved our time there; especially hanging out with our hosts on New Year’s Eve, discussing topics of all kinds. Jim is a retired high school teacher, is building a teakwood tiny house shaped like a gypsy wagon, and makes his own organic soap. Christine devotes her time to the ministry. They give you all the privacy you desire but are happy to chat if your paths cross. Both are the kindest souls you could hope to meet.
