A HOLA + ALOHA …

We’ve always been drawn to the road. Richele spent her formative years exploring Europe and Southeast Asia, while Tor roadtripped (and mountain biked) through the American West.

In 2011, we started Intrepidor as a blog to keep friends and family up to date when we sold everything, stored the rest in 10 x 10 storage, and lit out for Mexico. That adventure lasted 8 months, spanned the width of the country, led us down to Guatemala, and gave us the irrevocable taste for vagabond life.

Once we discovered that where and how we lived could be fluid, we began to experiment—moving every few years to whatever locale beckoned. We lived on islands, beaches, a mountaintop, a cabin on a lake. We discovered the joy of overland vehicles, and completely refurbished a 1984 VW Westfalia and 1991 Mitsubishi JB500. When Covid hit, we hopped in our Japanese camper and meandered down the Oregon Coast to ride things out.

Now, we spend 6 months per year slow traveling, visiting family and friends, and exploring new places with loved ones. We get a lot of questions as to how we manage so much time on the road, to which we answer: “Remote working while traveling is genuinely our idea of a good time.”

Richele is a freelance musician, digital designer, creative consultant, and writer. Tor is a UI/UX designer with Microsoft.

When we aren’t wandering the globe, “home” is currently the mighty Great Lakes and forests of Northern Michigan where we timeshare our house with family. That’s where you’ll find us in the warm months, enjoying nature, crafting music, art, or van builds.
