FROHNA

My niece, Pali and I spent a fascinating day pondering the 180 years that divide us from our forebears ... visiting our fourth / fifth great-grandparents’ cabin, now a museum, tucked away in some of the prettiest countryside I’ve seen in the US ... Both my niece and I are adopted from Asian countries, yet tracing the roots of our adoptive families’ German ancestors was as meaningful for both of us as it would be if we were connected to them by DNA. This sparked a lot of discussion on connection, heritage, and what it means to be “related”. In the end, I think we both came away with a heartfelt understanding of the true meaning of “family” …
