SANTA ELENA
It’s been surreal, living and working in a simple, wooden house in the Tropical Andes. There’s so much raw beauty here. Lush hardly describes it. Make no mistake, the weather is temperamental. If you love to watch Mother Nature rail in the form of terrifying thunderstorms (and we do), this place is it. ⚡️ Laundry is a challenge when the rains come, but then the sun breaks through, and it’s as if the storms were imagined. The 8,400 ft. elevation takes a little adjustment, (especially for flat landers coming from the beach). The people are lovely, warm, and artistic. A few steps outside puts you in the jungle. And you can’t beat the fresh, local produce. (Fried plantain heaven!) Even waking up to the aftershocks of a 5.9 earthquake doesn’t shake the magic here. Gracias por compartir tu belleza, Santa Elena …
